To help with Spring Commencement on Saturday at Michigan Stadium, the University and Development Events office is seeking volunteers to assist in providing graduates and their families with a personal and memorable experience during one of their last moments at Michigan, organizers say.
Volunteers are needed to help sort recycling and compost waste at U-M eco-friendly stations, pass out programs, answer guest questions about restroom, concession, and seat locations, board shuttle buses after the ceremony, and more. Each volunteer will receive a free T-shirt. They also will be eligible for a grand prize of four football tickets or one of 15 $25 gift cards to Ann Arbor businesses.
There is no deadline to sign up; staff and faculty can sign up to volunteer up until commencement. The Spring Commencement planning team requests that each volunteer attends a training session this week. Today, orientation is from 7:45-9 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m.; an additional session is set for 5:15-6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The majority of volunteer shifts are from 7:15 a.m. to 12:30-1 p.m. Most volunteers will be able to view the ceremony. To register, email [email protected].
