Marilyn Lanzon will serve as interim CIO for U-M Hospitals and Health Centers, beginning April 1.
“We are in a period of rapid change in our information technology environment as we prepare to meet the needs of our mission in the future,” Doug Strong, CEO of UMHHC, wrote in a message to employees. “We are fortunate to have someone of Marilyn’s experience and skills to serve us during this interim period as she leads our very capable MCIT group.”
Lanzon received both her undergraduate and Master of Science degrees from Central Michigan University. She has worked for UMHHC for 31 years and during her tenure has held various leadership positions. These include roles within Facilities Planning and Design, Hospital Operations and MCIT. She currently serves as the MCIT executive director for Device Engineering and Support, which manages the engineering and support for more than 26,000 core image workstations, multiple phone systems and the hospital paging system.
Lanzon implemented the first paging software system as well as the automated call distribution system used by ambulatory care, hospital operators and many other UMHHC departments. She successfully negotiated a managed service contract for the HHC telecommunications systems that serve more than 20,000 customers. Her most recent accomplishments include the successful migration of 30,000 mailboxes from GroupWise to Microsoft Outlook email, and the implementation of new technologies as the IT director responsible for the C.S. Mott Children’s and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital.
