The Women’s Athletic Building was erected in 1928. For years, women’s athletic activities had been centered at uneven and hilly Palmer Field. It was determined to level the field and build a field house on the south end. The building housed an equipment room, four-lane bowling alley, rifle range, 10 golf cages and more. It was demolished circa 1974-75 to make way for the Central Campus Recreation Building. — Photo courtesy Bentley Historical Library.

This month in history (23 years ago)Nearly 2,000 students, faculty and staff marched through campus to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Symposium/Diversity Day 1989. The march was among 60-plus campus events to honor King. President James Duderstadt told a Diag gathering that going forward, pluralism would be a measure of the strength and health of the campus community.
