Award

Dr. Mariana Kaplan, associate professor of internal medicine, Division of Rheumatology, Medical School, recently was selected to give the 2011 Edmund Dubois Memorial Lectureship at the American College of Rheumatology Meeting. This memorial lecture award is presented to an outstanding young investigator in the field of systemic lupus erythematosus. Nominees are judged on the quality of submitted abstracts and their overall contributions to the field of lupus.

The Arthritis Foundation recently bestowed its highest nationwide honors. The honorees included Dr. Alisa Koch, the Frederick G. L. Huetwell and William D. Robinson, M.D., Professor of Rheumatology and professor of internal medicine, Medical School, one of two winners of the 2011 Lee C. Howley Sr. Prize for Arthritis Research. The Howley Prize recognizes researchers whose contributions during the previous five years have represented a significant advancement in the understanding, treatment or prevention of arthritis.
