In support of efforts to free activist and Flint native John Sinclair from a 9 ½- to 10-year prison sentence for possession of two marijuana cigarettes, John Lennon and Yoko Ono headed a Free John Now Rally Dec. 10, 1971, attended by 15,000 in Crisler Arena. Three days later, the Michigan Supreme Court ordered Sinclair’s release. — From the John and Leni Sinclair Papers, 1957-99, at the Bentley Historical Library.
