Suspect interviewed for home invasions
A male, not affiliated with the university, has been interviewed in connection with two home invasions that were reported at West Quad on Oct. 8. Some property has been recovered. Additional investigation is pending.
In one incident, a fourth-floor resident told university police that when he awoke around 3 a.m., he found an unknown male in his room. The suspect fled out the door with a calculator. The suspect apparently entered by crawling out a restroom window onto a third floor roof and then into the resident’s window. Residents in another fourth-floor room told police later that day that personal items were missing from their room as well. There were no signs of forced entry in the second incident.
Student sexually assaulted
A resident of Markley Hall told police Sept. 13 that she had been sexually assaulted in her room by another student. The investigation has been submitted to the prosecutor’s office for review and warrant authorization.
Assault suspect pleads guilty
A suspect in an Aug. 20 sexual assault at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital pleaded guilty Oct. 12 to criminal sexual conduct — fourth degree in exchange for dropping a more serious charge of criminal sexual conduct — assault with intent to commit penetration. An additional charge of CSC — second degree was dismissed. Suomo Kennedy, now 18, remains in jail on $200,000 cash bond. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for Nov. 14.
A patient had told police on Sept. 20 that while she was a hospital patient the previous month she had been assaulted by an unknown male. The suspect had been visiting another patient in the same room.
Employee reports assault
An employee in a Facilities and Operations unit told police Sept. 30 that she had been inappropriately grabbed by another employee several times over the period of several months. The investigation has been submitted to the prosecutor’s office for review and warrant authorization.
Robberies closed due to lack of leads
Investigations into two campus robberies in early September have been closed due to a lack of leads and a third investigation also is stalled. Crime Alerts were issued for each of the incidents.
On Sept. 2, a male reported that he had been assaulted and robbed outside the Chemistry Building. Earlier in the evening, he had been observed walking with the group who later robbed him of a wallet. Police have not been able to identify any of the suspects.
On Sept. 5, a student told police that two days earlier as he was walking along Monroe Street about 11:30 p.m., he was approached by a group of four males. They demanded his watch, which he gave them, and then fled on foot northbound on State Street. Police have not been able to identify any of the suspects.
On Sept. 16, a student told police that as he was sitting at the bus stop in front of the IM Building about 1 a.m., he was approached by an unknown man who demanded his money. When the student refused, the suspect brandished a pocketknife. The student fled and reported the incident about 30 minutes later. He was not injured.

Student pleads guilty to assault at Michigan Stadium
A student pleaded guilty Oct. 12 to four charges in connection with an incident outside Michigan Stadium during the Sept. 24 football game with Eastern Michigan University. Melissa Erickson, 21, pleaded guilty to assault and battery, two counts of attempting to resist and obstruct police officers, and disorderly conduct. She is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 23.
She had been arrested in connection with assaulting two stadium ushers who were denying her entry to the stadium based on perceived intoxication. During the arrest process, she resisted and kicked one of the officers before being subdued. She remains out of jail on bond.
No updates on home invasions at Northwood
Police have no updates in the investigation of home invasions of five Northwood Community apartments Sept. 18. In all five incidents, entry was made to the apartments through unlocked, unbarred patio doors. Three apartments were along McIntyre Boulevard and two on Stone Drive. Cash, backpacks and other personal property were reported stolen.
Property taken from three rooms, no suspects
Three students reported to police in early September that they were missing property from their rooms.
On Sept. 8, a South Quad resident reported that her wallet had been taken from her unoccupied room six hours earlier. She said she had left her door open while she was gone.
On Sept. 13, another South Quad resident reported that her iPod had been taken from her room the previous night. It was determined that she had left her door open while she was gone from the room for a few minutes.
On Sept. 15, a Baits resident reported that cash had been taken from his wallet on Sept. 4 between 1:45 and 3:45 p.m. An investigation is pending.
Student’s vehicle stolen, recovered in Detroit
A student reported Sept. 6 that the 1995 Honda she had parked in the State Street Commuter Lot on Aug. 31 now was missing. Detroit police found the car Sept. 9, stripped of all parts. The police do not have any suspects.
