Jere Johnston, research professor, Institute for Social Research, recently was honored by the National Coalition for Literacy. U.S.A. Learns, an online English language learning site co-created by Johnston, received a 2011 NCL Literacy Leadership Award. The site is free to learners seeking to improve literacy skills through independent study. It receives more than 11,000 visitors daily.
