Lampe taking new OVPR communications position

David Lampe has been appointed to the newly created position of executive director of research communications in the Office of the Vice President for Research.

For more than three years, Lampe has served as the university’s vice president for communications. He will move into his new role April 4.

Kallie Bila Michels, associate vice president for communications, will lead the Office of the Vice President for Communications on a temporary basis.

In a message Thursday to university leaders, President Mary Sue Coleman said:

“David has been a delightful colleague and has led the university through many challenging issues while building a strong foundation for continuing innovation in communications and marketing at Michigan.

“I wish him well in this new endeavor and know that recognition for the importance and impact of U-M’s research enterprise will be strengthened under his guidance.”
