Wilbur Pierpont and his wife Maxine were honored at a ceremony celebrating the naming of Pierpont Commons, formerly the North Campus Commons. It was built during Pierpont’s tenure as vice president and chief financial officer, a position he held from 1951-77. Pierpont said that 45 years prior to the renaming ceremony, he and Maxine had walked the undeveloped North Campus site to enjoy the beauty and to envision building plans. — The University Record
