Don’t miss: Zell Series returns with top contemporary authors, poets

The Zell Visiting Writers Series began as an evening reading series in the early 1990s. Today, it is one of the country’s premier presentations of top contemporary writers reading their work, thanks to the support of gifts from Helen Zell, Larry Kirschbaum and members of the English Advisory Board, Janey Lack, and the Office of the Provost.

The Winter 2011 lineup includes Pulitzer Prize winners, MacArthur fellows, National Book Award finalists and other distinguished authors. The MFA Program in Creative Writing’s Assistant Director Megan Levad, who curates the series with the creative writing faculty, says, “We are fortunate to be able to bring some of the most prominent and exciting writers working today to Ann Arbor, and we are delighted to share them with the U-M and Ann Arbor community.”
