Paul Conway, associate professor in the School of Information, has received a two-year National Leadership Grant from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services to support his research on validating quality in large-scale digitization. His project grows out of a planning project for evaluating the quality of digital objects in the HathiTrust Digital Library, a shared repository for the nation’s great research libraries.
Nick Triantafyllidis, professor of aerospace engineering and professor of mechanical engineering, College of Engineering, is this year’s recipient of the ASME International Warner T. Koiter Medal, bestowed in recognition of distinguished contributions to the field of solid mechanics. The medal acknowledges the effective blending of theoretical and applied elements of the discipline and a high degree of leadership in the international solid-mechanics community. He also is the 2010 recipient of the Paul Doistau-Emile Blutet Prize offered by the French Academy of Sciences. The prize recognizes outstanding career research contributions in mechanical sciences.
