Former U.S. President Gerald Ford recalled his time at U-M, more than 70 years ago, during a site dedication for the new Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy held at Rackham Auditorium. Ford told the crowd he came to the university with $200 in his pocket — $100 for tuition and $100 to use for other expenses “for as long as I could,” he said. Ford, one of the university’s most distinguished alumni, died in 2006 at age 93. Besides the Ford School, U-M also is home to the Gerald R. Ford Library on North Campus. — The University Record
