Assault results in arrest
A 27-year-old Ann Arbor man was arraigned June 22 for allegedly brandishing a knife while in a confrontation with others on the Diag the previous day. The man was charged with felonious assault as well as assault and battery. The other men with whom he was arguing were not hurt in the incident, though the suspect sustained multiple injuries including knife wounds. The knife was recovered.
Youth injured with bottle
A 15-year-old visitor was injured June 25 when she was struck over the head with a bottle by another teenager near Hill Auditorium. The victim told university police that she was trying to help a friend who was involved in a dispute with other girls, when suddenly she was struck by an unknown girl. She also sustained an injury to her foot when she walked on the broken glass. The other girl was not found at the event.
Four theft reports from camp
Four summer sports camp participants told university police that they had money taken from their unoccupied South Quad rooms between 6:45 a.m. June 14 and 8:45 p.m. June 15. There were no signs of forced entry. The camp ended that week and no other incidents were reported.
Windows broken at Pinckney camp
Windows to the dining hall building at the Fresh Air Camp in Pinckney were found broken June 2. Four or five jackets were reported missing as well, though materials and equipment were left intact. The investigation has been closed due to lack of leads.
Locks broken on rental house
Locks on an empty rental house in the 1000 block of Cornwell Place were reported broken June 4. There was evidence a person or people had been inside the house though nothing was reported missing.
Warrants pending for thefts at EEHS
Formal arrest warrants from the County Prosecutor’s Office still are pending for a student who was arrested June 5 in connection with a series of burglaries from the Electrical and Engineering Honor Society offices. Money and food items frequently were taken from the snack bar as well as work areas during early morning incidents over several weeks, including on May 15 and May 18. Investigation of another incident on June 5 led to the suspect’s identification and arrest. He was released pending warrant authorization from the prosecutor’s office.
Maintenance vehicle recovered after joyride
An anonymous tip led university police to recover a Plant Operations maintenance vehicle at an off-campus parking lot June 2. The small vehicle, commonly known as a Gator, had been reported stolen earlier in the night from its parking spot near Tisch Hall. The vehicle was recovered a few blocks west near the Perry Building.
