Student arrested in burglaries from EECS
A student was arrested June 5 in connection with a series of burglaries from the Electrical and Engineering Honor Society offices. Money and food items frequently were taken from the snack bar as well as work areas during early morning incidents over several weeks, including on May 15 and May 18. Investigation of another incident on June 5 led to the suspect’s identification and arrest. He was released pending warrant authorization from the prosecutor’s office.
Student reported sexual assault
A student told police that on May 4 she was assaulted by an acquaintance who was walking her home from a restaurant. The student ultimately was able to flee from the suspect and run to her apartment. The investigation has been submitted to the prosecutor’s office for review.
Employee reported being groped by co-worker
A Medical Center employee reported to university police on May 28 that she had been assaulted by a co-worker in March. She told police that the co-worker approached her from behind and groped her several times, including while having his hand over her mouth. She was not physically injured during the incident. The case is still under investigation.
Pick-up missing from Wolverine Tower lot
A 1989 Chevrolet Sport pickup truck was reported missing May 17 from Lot SC17 at Wolverine Tower. The owner told police that he had parked and locked the vehicle at about 7:50 a.m. that morning. When he returned at 3:15 p.m., it was missing.
Employee arraigned for multiple thefts
A Plant Building Services staff person was arraigned June 12 in connection with a series of thefts of valuable electronic equipment from the Mason/Haven/Tisch/Angell halls complex in recent weeks. The man was arraigned on seven felony counts of larceny from a building. Bond was set at $25,000 cash and his preliminary exam is scheduled for June 23.
