This week in history (100 years ago)

After going on sale at 10:55 a.m. June 6, 200 copies of The Michiganensian yearbook sold in the first 15 minutes. As a fife and drum played nearby, the yearbooks were sold from a booth set up outside the old Chemical Building. Seven hundred yearbooks were sold the first day, and the remaining 400 were expected to sell the following day. The Chemical Building, on the Diag, was destroyed by fire on Christmas Eve 1981. — The  Michigan Daily
