Rosemary Sarri, professor emerita of social work, School of Social Work, and senior research scientist emeritus, Center for Political Studies, Institute for Social Research, recently was recognized by Monlina Healthcare of Michigan as a 2010 Community Champion. Sarri, a leading expert in the areas of child-family welfare policy and juvenile-criminal justice systems, was honored for her volunteer work with Alternatives for Girls, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serve homeless and high-risk girls and young women by providing safe shelter, street outreach, educational support and more.
