To celebrate Active U’s biggest year ever, MHealthy is encouraging all participants, as well as anyone else who would like to participate, to take part in a special “victory lap” walk at Ingalls Mall on Tuesday, starting at 11:57 a.m.
A record number of participants, more than 11,000, participated in the fifth year of MHealthy’s 12-week physical activity challenge and charity fundraiser.
“Together we took one big step towards a healthier, more active university community. And to celebrate, we want you to take a few more steps with us,” says Colleen Greene, MHealthy wellness coordinator. “We’re going to have fun with a flash mob-type gathering to kick things off. Then we’ll loop the mall for a nice 30-minute walk.”
A flash mob is a large group coming together suddenly in a public place to perform a fun act for a very brief time. For Active U, this will entail a few special moves as directed by Greene.
“This is going to be fun — I promise,” Greene says. “Imagine if we all get together in one place and get active. MHealthy is changing the university culture; making it more healthy. And if every participant comes out it will show how significant an impact we can make when we choose to.”
The flash mob begins at 11:57 a.m. and the walk begins at noon. For more information, go to www.MHealthy.umich.edu/activeu or call 734-975-3024.
