Dr. Asheesh Bedi, assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery, Medical School, was named the 2010 recipient of the Neer Award for outstanding basic science research in the field of shoulder surgery. Bedi completed basic research with Dr. Scott Rodeo and Dr. Russell Warren at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York investigating the effect of diabetes on tendon-to-bone healing after rotator cuff repair surgery. The results have significant implications on the current clinical care and potential future therapies for the musculoskeletal care of insulin-resistant and diabetic patients.
