The late-season snow that fell across southeastern Michigan Tuesday and early Wednesday brought a reminder that winter has not quite given way to spring, no matter what the calendar says.
While flower blooms and tree blossoms may not have welcomed their frozen coats, the soft-fallen snow did provide temporary splashes of whiteness that painted scenes of sometimes shining, occasionally forlorn beauty across U-M’s Ann Arbor campus.

Tulip blooms stand against the snow. Congratulatory banners had their messages temporarily obscured. A treble-clef sculpture sits frosted against a bright blue sky. Snow frosted the blossoms of flowering trees. Grass pokes through its white shroud. Snow in the sandy ridges of a volleyball pit creates an intriguing pattern. Daffodils chill in the damp spring near the Cube. Blossoms hang under the weight of heavy powder. No matter the weather, the Block M flies over the Michigan Union.
