Marching Band Drum Major Gregg Whitmore adjusted members’ plumes, examined hat brim levels, and checked uniform fit and appearance when the band lined up in front of Revelli Hall last Wednesday for full inspection. The band marched from Revelli Hall to Michigan Stadium, where they had formal and informal photographs taken and rehearsed their show for the Sept. 2 football game.
An Ann Arbor native, Whitmore (far right) attended Belleville High School prior to enrolling at the U-M to study instrumental music education. He plans to receive his bachelor’s in music next May. Before becoming drum major in fall 1999, Whitmore marched for three years as a clarinet player, was the fanfare band director and served as the assistant drum major. Photo by Britt Halvorson
