Spanning two decades, Garret Weng (10-year-old Tommy), Alex Brumel (narrator Tommy), and Nyeli Kratz (4-year-old Tommy), play the title role of the deaf, dumb and blind pinball wizard in the Musical Theatre Department’s production of “The Who’s Tommy.” Based on the 1969 double-album with music and lyrics by Pete Townshend, the musical earned a record breaking 11 Tony Award nominations, winning in five categories including Best Score. Declared by Frank Rich of the New York Times as “the authentic rock musical that has eluded Broadway,” “Tommy” plays April 12-15 at the Power Center for the Performing Arts.
