Northwood apartments burglarized
Residents in six Northwood IV apartments reported to the Department of Public Safety (DPS) that their residences had been burglarized Oct. 3. Residents in the 1200-1500 blocks of McIntyre Drive reported thefts of cash and personal property such as laptop computers, jewelry and video cameras. In all six cases, the residents had been asleep during the burglaries. DPS reports entry was gained through sliding glass doors that were not secured with drop-down bars. DPS has no suspects in the cases.
Reports of inappropriate touching investigated
Four women filed unrelated reports with campus police in September regarding incidents of inappropriate touching, or criminal sexual conduct fourth degree.
Two of the incidents were reported at Michigan Stadium during the Sept. 10 football game versus Notre Dame. In a third incident, a student reported a stranger had fondled her Sept. 21 as she walked near the West Hall arch. In all three cases, the suspects were identified, processed and released pending investigation and authorization of charges.
In the fourth incident, a patient at the University Hospital reported she had been touched inappropriately during a medical procedure. DPS is investigating.
Police arrest robbery suspect
A 17-year-old Ann Arbor man is in jail awaiting his pre-trial hearing Oct. 18 in connection with a Sept. 15 unarmed robbery near the Central Campus Diag. Jerry Greer was arraigned Sept. 23 for unarmed robbery, a 15-year felony. Greer also has been questioned in connection with a series of unarmed robberies that have been reported on campus and in the city of Ann Arbor since early spring.
DPS continues to seek information regarding the other two suspects witnesses described from the Sept. 15 incident. They are listed on DPS crime alert #2005-04 at http://www.umich.edu/~safety/crime_alerts/2005-04.html.

Two men apprehended in campus burglaries
Two men were apprehended in separate campus burglary incidents. An 18-year-old male student from Ada was arrested Sept. 1 after he was found near a broken window leading into the Lawyers Club. He was taken to University Hospital for treatment of lacerations on his arm. DPS will seek charges from the county prosecutor’s office of burglary and minor in possession of alcohol.
On Sept. 30, police arrested a 23-year-old Ann Arbor man after he was observed walking into resident’s rooms in Baits Housing. The man was escorted out of the hall by staff and later apprehended by police. He was released pending authorization of charges of illegal entry.
Construction site burglarized
Three companies involved in the renovation efforts of the LSA Building reported property was missing Sept. 19 from their temporary offices at the construction site. A temporary construction door was damaged and staff reported approximately $10,000 worth of communication radios and office equipment, such as laptop computers and printers, was missing. No suspects have been identified.
Police officer evades reckless driver
A DPS officer driving a police motorcycle avoided injury Sept. 18 when a 50-year-old woman allegedly attempted to strike him with her car on East Medical Center Drive. Mara VanDusen of Ann Arbor was arraigned on three felonies—assault with a dangerous weapon, fleeing and eluding police, and resisting and obstructing police. She is under care awaiting a competency hearing scheduled for Nov. 30.
The officer reported he observed VanDusen driving erratically after yelling at nearby drivers. When the officer attempted to stop VanDusen, he said she refused to stop her car and made several attempts to hit him. The officer ended the vehicle pursuit on the east side of North Campus. VanDusen later was arrested at her residence.
Photographer suffers injury from thrown bottle
A 27-year-old photographer suffered a head injury at Michigan Stadium Sept. 10 after an object thrown from the stands hit him. The photographer sought medical treatment on his own.
Family member hits hospital visitor
An 18-year-old woman was struck in the face by a telephone handset during an argument with a 17-year-old male family member while the two were visiting a patient at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital Sept. 19. The man was released pending authorization of assault and battery charges.
