An exhibit that uses photography combined with personal stories and information about genetic conditions to provoke new perceptions is on display through April 25 at two campus locations.
Photos from “Positive Exposure: Spirit of Difference” are being shown at the International Institute in the School of Social Work building and Palmer Commons in the Life Sciences complex.
Positive Exposure is a not-for-profit organization whose programs challenge the stigma associated with difference and celebrates the richness of genetic variation with positive images and powerful life stories.
The program is a partnership between visual arts, genetics, mental health and human rights driven by former fashion photographer Rick Guidotti and Dr. Diane McLean.
The exhibit is sponsored by the Health Sciences Scholars Program, in collaboration with LSA, Genetics Counseling Program, Life Sciences in Society Program, Life Sciences Institute, School of Social Work, School of Art & Design and the health schools.
The Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies and the Center for Japanese Studies are sponsors of the exhibit at the International Institute.
