Two buildings evacuated after fires
Two buildings were evacuated for brief periods in June as a result of small fires. A variable-speed drive for the Dennison Building’s heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system overheated June 6. Faculty and staff were evacuated for less than an hour while the fire was extinguished and the building was cleared of smoke. On June 11, a small fire was confined to a lab oven in the Chemistry Building but created considerable smoke, necessitating evacuation. Officers from the Department of Public Safety, along with staff from Occupational Safety and Environmental Health and the Ann Arbor Fire Department, responded to the incidents.
