Public-private partnerships conference is Nov. 11–12

The University Record, November 8, 1999 The Non-Profit and Public Management Center (NPMC) will host a free, public conference on public/private partnerships Nov. 11–12 in Hale Auditorium at the Business School.
“Successful Partnerships for Strong Communities: Public, Private and Nonprofit Contributions” will address the rapidly growing importance of partnerships that bring together government agencies, private firms and nonprofit organizations to improve communities and regions.
Conference sessions include:
“Building Partnerships for Economic Development,” 4–6 p.m. Nov. 11. Panelists include Freman Hendrix, deputy mayor of Detroit; Doug Rothwell, president and CEO, Michigan Economic Development Corp.; and Roland Anglin, senior vice president, SEEDCO.
“Successful Public-Private Partnerships,” 7:30–9:30 p.m. Nov. 11. Keynote address by Eli Segal, president and CEO, The Welfare to Work Partnership; remarks by Audrey Rowe, senior vice president and managing director of children and family services, Lockheed Martin IMS.
“Strategies for Creating Community Partnerships,” 8:30–10:15 a.m. Nov. 12. Panelists include Maggie DeSantis, executive director, Warren/Conner Development Corp.; Steve Graham, director of community health partnerships, Kaiser Permanente of California; and Joseph L. Petrosky, director of government and public affairs, Focus: HOPE.
“Strengthening Education through Public-Private Partnerships,” 10:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m. Nov. 12. Panelists include W. Wilson Goode, deputy assistant secretary, Office of Intergovernmental and Interagency Affairs, U.S. Department of Education; Steve H. Keefe, director of state government affairs, Honeywell Inc.; Sophie Sa, executive director, Panasonic Foundation; and Robert L. Wehling, global marketing officer, Procter & Gamble Co.
