The University Record, April 5, 1999
More than 900 3rd- and 4th-graders from area schools met nearly 1,000 U-M students they felt they knew, but had never met face-to-face. They were all participants in K-Grams, a program that pairs U-M students with grade school children through e-mail in a pen pal program. They send e-mail once a month to keep in touch. The Kids’ Fair allowed them to get together for fun and frolic–and fencing, among other activities. Photo by Bob Kalmbach |
Watch Out for April Showers
Karl-Georg Federhofer, lecturer in Germanic languages and literatures, held class outside last week on one of the first warm spring days–in the fountain. Fortuanately, water is not scheduled to flow in the University’s fountain until May. Photo by Bob Kalmbach
