1998 Open Enrollment is under way
Editor’s Note: This is one in a series of articles from the Benefits Office on Open Enrollment.
Open Enrollment
1998 Open Enrollment for your 1999 benefits is Oct. 12-30. Review your Open Enrollment books and Personal Worksheets, make your decisions and call BEL early.
Benefits Enrollment Line (BEL)
Call the Benefits Enrollment Line (BEL) to make your 1998 Open Enrollment choices for your 1999 benefits. BEL will be open for your call 7:30 a.m.-11:30 p.m. Eastern time every day during Open Enrollment, including weekends, except that BEL will close at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 30. From Ann Arbor, call 763-0425; from elsewhere in the United States, call (800) 236-1492.
For information on how to make your call, review the “How to Use BEL” brochure enclosed with your Personal Worksheet or the section on how to make your call in the Open Enrollment book.
Open Enrollment Books
While nearly everyone has received their 1998 Open Enrollment book, if by chance you have not yet received one, call 764-8009 immediately to request one. When you call, leave your name, address, the number of books you need and a phone number where you can be reached during the day. We will arrange for the book(s) to be sent to you right away.
Personal Worksheets
Personal Worksheets will be mailed to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff. If you do not receive one by Oct. 15, call 764-8009 and request one. When you call, leave your name, address, Social Security number and a phone number where you can be reached during the day.
Questions?
The Benefits Office has books, brochures and other materials on most, not all, of the plans. If you have questions about specific plans, visit that plan’s Web site, or call the plan company directly. Web addresses and phone numbers for the plans are in the Open Enrollment book.
If you have questions about the new University policy of extending coverage to eligible 19-25 year old dependents for Dental, Vision and Dependent Child Life Insurance, or any other changes for 1999, contact the Benefits Office most convenient to you for answers: Main Campus, (734) 763-1214; Medical Campus, (734) 764-6845; Flint Campus, (810) 766-6845; Dearborn Campus, (313) 593-5192.
