Regent Emeritus Frederick C. Matthaei Jr. had a surprise for those attending the Oct. 31 dedication of the ’47 E Reflecting Pool (contributed by the Class of 1947), adjacent to the Lurie Engineering Center on North Campus. The dedication ceremonies were held inside due to inclement weather. After a short speech, Matthaei walked outside and jumped into the pool. A contribution from Matthaei funded the fountain.
