United Way campaign nearing end

The University Record, October 29, 1997

Half way through the University’s United Way campaign, the total stands at nearly 46 percent of the $1 million fundraising goal.

The campaign, which began Oct. 1, funds organizations in Washtenaw county that provide emergency services to those in need, and distributes money to such organizations as the local Boy Scout and Girl Scout councils, and to local programs for children and children at risk.

Campaign chair Maureen Hartford urges University faculty, staff and students to turn in their pledge cards before the end of the month, the campaign’s official ending date.

“Although we are more than half way through the campaign, we must not lose sight of the direction in which we are moving,” Hartford says. “Please continue to give generously to the United Way.”
