Provost search committee named

President Lee C. Bollinger has appointed an 11-member faculty-student advisory committee for the national search for a provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. Current Provost J. Bernard Machen’s administrative term expires this summer.

Bollinger, who will chair the committee, said, “I’m delighted that so many distinguished individuals have agreed to serve on the committee, and I hope we can conduct this search expeditiously and have someone recommended to the Regents early this fall.”

Other members are: William E. Bolcom, the Ross Lee Finney Distinguished University Professor of Music; Richard I. Ford, professor of anthropology and of botany, and curator, Museum of Anthropology; Linda K. Gregerson, associate professor of English; Linda P.B. Katehi, professor of electrical engineering and computer science; Earl Lewis, senior associate dean, Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies, and professor of history and of Afroamerican and African studies; Michael A. Marletta, the John Gideon Searle Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, and professor of biological chemistry; Michael J. Nagrant, president, Michigan Student Assembly, and LS&A junior; Rebecca J. Scott, the Frederick G.L. Huetwell Professor, the Arthur F. Thurnau Professor, and professor and chair of the Department of History; Ctirad Uher, professor and chair of the Department of Physics; and Janet A. Weiss, the Mary C. Bromage Collegiate Professor of Business Administration, professor of organizational behavior and public policy, professor of public policy, and associate dean of the School of School of Business Administration.
