Engineering students display prototypes

Twenty-three prototype machines and devices designed and built by mechanical engineering students were displayed at Design Expo ’97 last Thursday.

Above, Daniel Youtt (left), Michael Gundle, Janet Roberts and Mark Raidl demonstrate their method of producing a smoother and more consistent form of propulsion.

Each semester, teams are given problems submitted by industry sponsors or faculty. During the 12-week course, students must design and build a working prototype that solves the problem. Photo by Bob Kalmbach
