Dearborn gift provides video equipment

The U-M Dearborn Communications Program will receive a $65,982 in-kind gift of video production equipment this month from the Dearborn Cable Fund. The equipment will be used for a media lab.

“The gift gives the University’s Communications Program a tremendous boost, allowing students in the electronic media track to gain valuable hands-on experience in video production,” says Jan Samoriski, assistant professor of communication.

“The equipment will enable faculty to teach media courses and will enable students and faculty to produce programs for campus and community organizations,” he notes, adding that “students will learn to write, produce and direct television programs.”
