Deadline nears for OAMA grants

The application deadline for a Faculty Award for Research and Creative Projects, sponsored by the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic and Multicultural Affairs, is April 1.

The awards program is intended to enhance academic excellence and intellectual diversity by supporting the professional and scholarly pursuits of faculty; to assist faculty in establishing and sustaining an active program of research and scholarship; and to contribute to the intellectual development of faculty and to the multicultural goals of the University.

Regularly appointed faculty members who are expected to conduct research as a part of their duties and who have a regular assignment teaching formal courses are eligible to receive an award, as are primary research staff, librarians, curators and archivists. Awards are made only in combination with matching support from the applicant’s academic unit or from an external funding source.

Awards will be given in several categories, including graduate and undergraduate student research assistance; co-sponsorship of symposia, conferences or colloquia; interdisciplinary and collaborative research; research and professional travel; subvention for publications, recordings, showings and performances; seed money to assist new faculty in launching research programs; and supplementary stipends for faculty on fellowships and sabbaticals.

Applications are reviewed twice each year by a faculty panel that makes recommendations to the vice provost.

For more information, or to request an application packet, contact the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic and Multicultural Affairs, 3084 Fleming Bldg., 763-8123, or send e-mail to [email protected].
