Added value topic of Kellogg Foundation CEO’s talk
William C. Richardson, president and chief executive officer of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, will speak on “Adding Value and Virtue: The New Challenge of Higher Education” 4-5:30 p.m. Feb. 6 in the Rackham Amphitheatre.
Gary D. Krenz, assistant to the president, expects Richardson will challenge the University community to think deeply about academic outreach in the broadest sense of the term. “He will speak about the virtues and strengths of higher education, and about how we must use those strengths to reach new constituencies in new ways, and to provide more value to communities external to the University.”
A discussant panel will follow that will include Abigail Stewart, director of the Institute for Research on Women and Gender; Oscar A. Barbarin III, professor of social work; and Michael Cohen, professor of political science, of public policy and of information.
Richardson’s talk is sponsored by the Office of the President; the Vice Provost for Academic Outreach and Information Technology; and the Center for Learning Through Community Service in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.
