Official 1997 University holidays announced

In order to assist University personnel in planning work and vacation schedules, the Office of Human Resources and Affirmative Action has announced seven holidays which officially will be observed by the University within the next twelve months. They are: Memorial Day, May 26; Independence Day, July 4; Labor Day, Sept. 1; Thanksgiving Day and the day following, Nov. 27-28; Christmas Day, Dec. 25; and the day following New Year’s Day, Jan. 2. Staff members may request approval to substitute up to three holidays of their choice for any three University holidays.

In addition, most units will observe four Season Days: Dec. 26, 29, 30 and 31. Flexibility in scheduling the four Season Days between Nov. 15 and Jan. 19 is provided for units operating 24 hours a day and seven days a week, or who must schedule work during this period. Employees in bargaining units observe holidays and Season Days according to their respective agreements.
