Center for Japanese Studies sponsors grant competition

The Center for Japanese Studies has announced an open competition for grant awards supporting research on Japan. All University faculty pursuing research that investigates any aspect of Japanese society and culture are eligible to apply.

Grants, ranging from $500 to $10,000, may support individual or group projects and are designed to provide support for travel, lodging and meals; salaries and benefits for research assistants (including translators); and supplies and books directly related to the project. The grant does not provide the applicant’s salary or permanent equipment.

Award recipients will report on accomplishments at the end of the award period and offer a presentation in the Center’s Noon Lecture Series.

The application deadline for grants to be awarded for 1997-98 is March 31. For more information or an application, contact the Center Administrator, Center for Japanese Studies, 108 Lane Hall, 764-6307, or send e-mail to [email protected].
