Additional units post holiday hours; some services reduced

During the holiday season, some University units schedule some reduction in services. In addition to those previously listed (see The University Record, Dec. 10, page 5), the following units have announced holiday closings or limited hours:

The Michigan Union will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Building hours during the rest of the holiday period will be 9 a.m.-1 a.m., Dec. 22; 7 a.m.-1 a.m. Dec. 23; 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 24; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 26 & 27; 9 a.m.-2 a.m. Dec. 28; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 29-31; 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Jan. 2; 7 a.m.-2 a.m. Jan. 3 & 4; 9 a.m.-1 a.m. Jan. 5 & 6; 7 a.m.-2 a.m. Jan. 7-9.

Pierpont Commons will close Sat. and Sun. through the first week in January, as well as on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Except as noted, hours between Dec. 23 and Jan. 3 will be 8 a.m.-6 p.m., with regular (7 a.m.-midnight, weekdays and 8 a.m.-midnight, weekends) hours resuming on Jan. 6.

Safewalk will operate 8 p.m.-11:30 p.m. today, Wed. and Thurs. (Dec. 17-19) and will shut down Fri. (Dec. 20)-Jan. 11. Temporary start up begins Jan. 12 (hours as yet undetermined). Call 647-2900 for information.

North Walk has suspended operation until Jan. 12, when temporary start-up will begin (hours as yet undetermined)

University Health Services will be closed Dec. 22, 25, 28, 29 and Jan. 1. Hours at the facility will be reduced, 9 a.m.-noon, Dec. 21-Jan. 4.

4-HELP will close Sat. (Dec. 21), Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 4 and 11. The service will be open 1-5 p.m. Dec. 26-31. Normal hours will resume on Jan. 2.

Office of Undergraduate Admissions will close Dec. 25-Jan. 1.

Office of the Dean of Students will close on Dec. 21 and Dec. 25-Jan. 1.

The following campus libraries have announced reduced holiday hours and closings:

Shapiro Undergraduate Library will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 20 & 23 and Jan. 2, 3, 6 and 7. The library will close December 21, 22, 24-Jan. 1 and Jan. 4 & 5. The library will be open 8 a.m.-midnight, weekdays Jan. 8-24, 10 a.m.-midnight on Saturdays and noon-midnight on Sundays. Extended hours, 8 a.m.-5 a.m. will resume on Jan. 26.

Harlan Hatcher Graduate Library will close Sat. (Dec. 21), Sun. (Dec. 22), Dec. 24, 25, 28, 29, 31 and Jan. 1, 4 and 5. The library will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Fri. (Dec. 20) and Mon. (Dec. 23); 1-5 p.m. Dec. 26, 27 and 30; and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Jan. 2, 3, 6 and 7. Regular Winter hours return on Jan. 8.

The Law Library will close Sat. (Dec. 21) and Sun. (Dec. 22). It will open 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 23 and Dec. 24, then close for the holidays Dec. 25-Jan. 1. Reduced hours will be observed 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Jan. 2-7. Regular winter term hours, 8 a.m.-midnight, begin Jan. 7.

Media Union Library will close at 9 p.m. Fri. (Dec. 20), remaining closed Sat. and Sun. (Dec. 21 & 22). The library will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 23, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Dec. 24, and closed Dec. 25, 28, 29 and Jan. 1. On Dec. 26, 27, 29 and 30, library hours will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Beginning Jan. 2, the library will be open from 8 a.m.-midnight, resuming normal 24-hour operation on Jan. 7.

Most other University libraries and computing sites will also observe closings and reduced hours during the holiday period. Call ahead for schedules.

Huetwell Visitors Center Walking Tours will be suspended Thurs. (Dec. 19)-Jan. 7. Walking Tours will take place at 11:45 a.m. today and tomorrow (Dec. 17 and 18).

Museum of Art will be closed on Dec. 23, 25, 30 and Jan. 1. Hours throughout the rest of the holiday period will be as usual (10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tues., Wed. and Sat., 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Thurs., noon-5 p.m. Sun. and closed Mondays).

Slusser Gallery has closed for the holiday period. It will re-open at 11 a.m. Jan. 13.

Exhibit Museum of Natural History will close Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1. During the rest of the holiday break, the museum will observe normal hours of operation (9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays and Sat., 1-5 p.m. on Sun.).

Kelsey Museum will observe regular hours through Dec. 24, closing Dec. 25-Jan. 1. Regular winter hours will be in effect beginning Jan. 2.

Waste Management Services will not be emptying recycling dumpsters during the period Dec. 26-Jan. 2, and the offices will be closed. Limited trash collection service will take place for selected buildings, however. If your building will need a recycling or trash pickup just before the holiday break, please call 763-5539 by Thurs. (Dec. 19).

Parking Services will close at noon Dec. 24, re-opening at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 2.

Financial Operations, including Student Financial Operations, will close at 2 p.m. Dec. 24 and re-open at 8 a.m. Jan. 2. The Central and North Campus cashier’s offices will close at 4 p.m. Dec. 23 and re-open at 8 a.m. Jan. 2.
