Harlem Nutcracker premieres at Power Center on Dec. 18

Donald Byrd’s The Harlem Nutcracker begins its world-premiere tour at the Power Center for the Performing Arts Dec. 18. Co-commissioned by the University Musical Society, the show will stop in six area cities this season. The score was arranged from the original Tchaikovsky by Duke Ellington and David Berger and is performed in part by the Willis Patterson Our Own Thing Chorale. Performances are at 8 p.m. Dec. 18-21 and a 2 p.m. family show will be performed Dec. 21. Tickets are $16-$28.
