Multipurpose Mcards now available for staff and faculty

New identification cards, called Mcards, are now available for faculty and staff. All employees are being asked to update their old employee identification cards and replace them with a new Mcard. In addition to serving as an ID card Mcard is a library card, Entree plus card and entry card for some buildings. It also provides access to several financial services.

Many students already have one but Employment Office Director Cynthia Kabza would like all staff and faculty to replace their old identification card with new ones.

“We would like all faculty and staff to get their new ID cards as soon as possible,” Kabza says. “Getting a new card will only take five to ten minutes.”

There are several places where you can obtain an Mcard. These include:

Wolverine Tower, Suite 16, 3003 S. State, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., 763-7671.

Student Activities Building, Room 100, 515 E. Jefferson, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., 763-4632.

Pierpont Commons (formerly North Campus Commons), 2101 Bonisteel, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., 763-6294.

Medical Center staff must have their ID badges made at the Med Inn Building, Room C158. The office is open 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

In order to get an Mcard, employees must bring their old IDs. If the information on their card has changed, such as name or department, they must also get an Identification Card Request and Change Form signed by their supervisor.

Mcards are free to new employees and to those who bring their old IDs.

Employees who have misplaced the current card will be assessed a $15 fee.

The Mcard features the following information: name, photo, signature, University affiliation (student, faculty, staff and major department or unit), card number, expiration date, uniqname for access to University computing services, bar code, Bank Stripe and CashChip +Smart Chip.
