Bells placed on North Campus

The largest and first of the 60 bells (six tons and nearly seven feet in diameter) was hoisted into the 165-foot Ann and Robert H. Lurie Tower on North Campus last Thursday. The carillon and tower will be dedicated Oct. 17 in a ceremony that will include music commissioned for the occasion and composed by Prof. William Albright of the School of Music and U-M alumnus Chip Davis of the group Mannheim Steamroller.
