Hayashi will speak today at Law School 

Dennis Hayashi, highest-ranking Asian Pacific American (APA) in the Clinton Administration, will discuss “Where Are All the APAs in Politics?” in a free, public talk at 4:30 p.m. today (April 2) in the Law School’s Hutchins Hall.

Hayashi, whose talk is sponsored by the APA Task Force and APA Law Students Association, is the director of the Office for Civil Rights, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). He is responsible for ensuring that programs and activities receiving funds from the DHHS are in compliance with all civil rights laws.

Prior to his present appointment, Hayashi was national director of the Japanese American Citizens League, served as an attorney for the Asian Law Caucus and co-founded the National Network Against Anti-Asian Violence.
