Two workers treated and released in fire that caused damage to C.C. Little Bldg.

A fire at the Clarence Cook Little Building, 425 E. University, was reported to the U-M Department of Public Safety (DPS) at approximately 2:50 p.m. Thursday (March 28), said Leo Heatley, director of DPS. The fire was contained in one room and was extinguished.

Heatley said the fire apparently was started during a welding project on a construction job. The building filled with smoke, and building occupants were evacuated for approximately an hour. Two construction workers were transported to U-M Medical Center with minor injuries. The initial estimate of damage to the building is $50,000, Heatley said.

DPS, U-M Department of Occupational Safety and Environmental Health, the Ann Arbor Fire Department and Huron Valley Ambulance responded to the scene.
