Next steps in appropriations process
The next step in the higher education appropriations process is a hearing by the Senate Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee on the Ann Arbor campus 10 a.m.&endash;noon Saturday (Feb. 17) in the Hussey Room, Michigan League. The U-M, Wayne State University, the American Association of University Professors and the Michigan Education Association will make formal presentations at the public hearing. The subcommittee is chaired by Sen. John J.H. Schwarz, R-Battle Creek. Also attending the hearing hear will be subcommittee members Sen. Jon Cisky, R-Saginaw, and Donald Koivisto, D-Ironwood.
The Senate subcommittee expects to complete hearings by March 8 and to clear the bill before the Easter recess at the end of March. The House process will start after that.
