‘Inside Europe’ on Michigan Radio offers special insight into a changing Europe
From the battered villages of Bosnia and Croatia to the glittering diplomatic capitals of London and Paris, “Inside Europe” features sound-rich reports, in-depth interviews and colorful profiles to create a picture of Europe that’s both informative and entertaining.
Produced with American public radio in mind, “Inside Europe” offers a perspective that provides insight into the culture, language and politics of a changing Europe.
Acknowledging the influence of the past on the face of Europe today, “Inside Europe” brings to each program a sense of how Europe’s past affects the present through the voices of those who have witnessed the changes over the decades.
With a culture rich in the arts, Europe also has a wealth of artistic centers. “Inside Europe” travels to those centers each week to seek out and report what’s new in classical music, jazz and popular music as well as European film, theatre and music.
Host Helen Seeney has been a part of “Inside Europe” since 1990. Born in Australia, Seeney lived in London as a youth and in the U.S. during a journalism scholarship.
She has traveled and reported extensively throughout Europe. Seeney also has spent considerable time in Eastern Europe focusing on the war in former Yugoslavia. Her documentary edition of “Inside Europe” on the Balkan crisis earned Seeney an award from the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union in 1994.
