Dancer Dana Reitz is Alumna-in-Residence

Dancer and choreographer Dana Reitz will be Alumna-in-Residence Thurs.-Sat. (Oct. 27-29). She will hold an open seminar 10-11 a.m. and a master class for dance majors 2:30-4 p.m. Friday (Oct. 28) in the Betty Pease Studio Theater, Dance Building. On Saturday (Oct. 29) she will give a lecture-demonstration-performance at 8 p.m. in the same location.

After graduating from the Department of Theater and Dance in 1969, Reitz studied ballet in New York and joined the Twyla Tharp and Dancers company. She later toured with Laura Dean and Dance and performed a major role in the original version of the Robert Wilson/Philip Glass opera, Einstein on the Beach.

As a choreographer, Reitz has produced many solo, group and collaborative projects in the United States, Europe and Australia. Her most recent work is a solo performance that Mikhal Baryshnikov premiered this past June.

She has been awarded grants and fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Creative Artists Public Service Program and the Jerome Foundation, among others.
