Editor’s Note: The following actions were taken by the Regents at their September meeting.

$31.3 million in gifts accepted

The Regents accepted $31,305,501 in gifts in June–August. This includes $12,670,209 from individuals, $7,537,824 from corporations, $7,342,926 from foundations, and $3,754,542 from associations and others.

Tenured faculty appointments made

Faculty appointments with tenure approved by the Regents included:

David L. Featherman, director of the Institute for Social Research, also will serve as professor of sociology, effective Sept. 1.

Denise C. Park, from the University of Georgia, will be professor of psychology, effective Sept. 1.

Suzanne Raitt, from Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London, will be associate professor of English, effective Sept. 1.

Carroll Smith-Rosenberg, from the University of Pennsylvania, will be professor of history and of women’s studies, effective Jan. 1, 1996.

Anna Suk-Fong Lok, from Tulane University School of Medicine, will be professor of internal medicine, effective Oct. 1.

John C. Middlebrooks, from the University of Florida College of Medicine, will be associate professor of otorhinolaryngology, effective Aug. 1, 1995.

Victor J. Strecher, from the University of North Carolina School of Public Health, will be professor of health behavior and health education, effective Sept. 1.
