Schmoll receives Catherine Worthingham Fellowship

Beverly J. Schmoll, associate professor of physical therapy, U-M-Flint, was recently named a Catherine Worthingham Fellow. The award recognizes physical therapy professionals whose work of 15 years or more has resulted in significant advances in the science, education and practice of physical therapy. The award honors Catherine Worthingham, the first physical therapist to earn a doctoral degree in physical therapy.

Recipients of 3M Foundation Award are announced

The School of Nursing and the Medical Center have announced the recipients of the 3M Foundation Award—Principal Investigator Jane Wilson Coon, assistant professor of nursing, and co-investigators Joyce Palmer, clinical nurse III, and Paula Schroeder, clinical care coordinator. They were granted this competitive award for their research project titled “Treatment of Stage I and II Pressure Ulcers in Critically Ill Patients.”

Oaklander co-authors new book

L. Nathan Oaklander, professor of philosophy, U-M-Flint, is the co-author with Quentin Smith of Time, Change and Freedom; An Introduction to Metaphysics, published by Routledge.

Walters honored for broadcast

John Walters, Michigan Radio reporter and host of Morning Edition, has been recognized by the Michigan Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Commission for a series he produced for the station in 1994. The five-part series, Hazardous Materials: What You Need to Know, looked at how local governments in southern Michigan are trying to plan for potential serious incidents with hazardous materials.
