Bagale promoted to vice chancellor for government relations at U-M-Dearborn

Edward J. Bagale, associate vice chancellor for government relations at U-M-Dearborn, has been promoted to vice chancellor for government relations. His promotion was approved by the Regents at their April meeting.
“As a result of U-M-Dearborn’s increased work with local governments, the state legislature and the federal government, government relations have become increasingly important to the development of the Dearborn campus,” Chancellor James C. Renick said. “The promotion also recognizes the dedication and skills that Ed Bagale has brought to bear to advance the cause of U-M-Dearborn, and more generally, the cause of publicly supported higher education in Michigan.”
Bagale joined U-M-Dearborn as director of admissions in 1977. He took a leave of absence to serve as district administrator for Rep. Sander M. Levin in 1983-85. He was named associate vice chancellor for government relations on his return to Dearborn in 1985. In 1989-91, Bagale also served as the campus’s coordinator of institutional advancement.
Bagale was instrumental in developing the Wade H. McCree Incentive Scholarship Program, which is now administered through the Presidents Council of State Universities.
