People of Color Career Conference is Friday
The Women of Color Task Force will host the 13th annual People of Color Career Conference 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Fri. (Feb. 24). The deadline for preregistration has passed, but those interested in attending are encouraged to register on-site beginning at 7 a.m.
U-M alumnus Benjamin S. Carson will give the keynote address. Carson, who is director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Medical Institution, is probably best known for surgery he performed to separate Siamese twins in 1987. He also is the recipient of 14 honorary doctorates and the American Black Achievement Award in the business and professions category.
“Through the years, the Women of Color Task Force has established the reputation for providing an excellent career conference,” said President James J. Duderstadt in a recent letter to unit directors and department heads. “I fully support this special effort and hope that you will also show your support by offering your staff the opportunity to participate in the conference.”

7 a.m.–Registration, Modern Languages Building
8:30 a.m.–Workshops, Modern Languages Building
10:30 a.m. –Keynote address, Benjamin S. Carson, Rackham Auditorium (Note change in time and location)
Lunch
1:15 p.m.–Workshops, Modern Languages Building
2:45 p.m.–Break
3 p.m.–Workshops, Modern Languages Building
4:30 p.m.–Reception
Registration for faculty, staff and students is $15. Persons not affiliated with the U-M may attend for $35. Those not registered for the conference workshops may register for only the keynote address for $5. For more information, call 936-3326.
