The Margaret Waterman Alumnae Group has announced speakers for its 1994 Town Hall Celebrity Series.
CNN White House correspondent and U-M graduate Jill Dougherty will kick off the series Oct. 18.
Art historian Marlene Barash will discuss “Kings, Queens & Courtesans—Great Art Inspired by Great Passion” on Nov. 16.
Chef Henry Haller will share culinary insights gained through 21 years as the White House chef on Feb. 14.
The series concludes March 16 with Ann Arbor native and documentary film maker Ken Burns, the award-winning director and producer of “The Civil War” for PBS.
Each lecture begins at 10:30 a.m. at Lydia Mendelssohn Theater and lasts approximately one hour. A luncheon with the speaker that includes a question-and-answer session follows the lecture.
Series tickets for the lectures ($40) and the luncheons ($48) are available. Individual tickets for any lecture are $15, subject to availability one week prior to each lecture. Individual luncheon tickets are $12.
Funds raised through the series provide scholarships. Last year the group awarded $15,000 in scholarships to help women pursue their education at the U-M.
